Bob Costley - Sample Song: "Black
River Flo"
Bob is a southern boy, transplanted to
the greatest place he knows of, Alaska. He says I'm no great vocalist, so
I'm always looking for Artist, but I'm good at writing songs that tell a
story, and the fact that I love playing my drums and my music in the bars,
and the thrill I get when it all comes together, is about who I am. I
Started with the band "4 Times Soul". I played for years with the Bonner
Brothers Band. We brought Alan Jackson out, and into the bars for the
first time. Up until recently, I have played with "The Wishbone Creek
Band" A great ride that lasted for the last decade and a half. I run a
successful Jam session for local musicians once a month, and recently have
started working with people interested in the blues and original material.
A New group called "Off The Cuff" It is an honor to have such a talented

thru, it was terrible. Took three long years to get over her. He is the
father of three children, two sons, and one daughter. Clint Barfield, age
23, Joshua Barfield, age 21, and Mackenzie Rose Barfield, age 8. In 1995,

title, so the song was passed.

co-writing with the great, Chris E. Sellmeyer. They met thru George

listening to radio. I try to write main stream songs, you know the kinda
stuff that's being played on radio today. I grew up listening to such
greats as Lenard skynard and Steve Miller. After Steve Holy and I became
friends I decided Country was the type of music I wanted to write. So now

-
Sample Song:
"The
Simple Things I Love"
Mark was born in Louisiana, raised in
Oklahoma and now lives in Texas. He has been writing and singing since
Junior High School. A December trip to Nashville in 1984 started him on a
more serious path to songwriting and recording. Jackson Brumley (son of
the famous Gospel songwriter-Albert Brumley) told Mark the quickest way to
success in the music business was through songwriting. Mark has been
writing ever since and has had the opportunity to perform and share the
stage with some Grand Ole Opry greats. He owns "Big Sugar Music"
publishing and the "Redshed Recording Company". He has been influenced by
various singers and songwriters throughout the years and writes mainly in
the country, folk and bluegrass fields. Mark has co written with Zane
Trusty, Jerry Cramer and others. His daughter Beka is also a very talent
recording artist. Mark and his dad Jack founded Big Sugar Music as a means
to publish their songs but after being asked by a few friends to publish
their songs as well Mark had the fore sight to open the doors of BSM. He
teamed up with long time friend and fellow songwriter Jerry Cramer to take
Big Sugar Music to the next level and today BSM is one of the fastest
growing publishers in America. It is also one of the very few music
publishers to accept unsolicited material from unknown songwriters. Mark
is the chairman of the board here at BSM and is always here to assist our
new songwriters and our present staff writers. He invites you to submit
your songs for review today!
Jerry Cramer - Sample Song: "Maria"
Jerry Cramer has spent the last 50 years
in the music industry. He began his career with his own garage band in the
early sixties. He had the good fortune to co-write a song with two other
writers that would produce a block buster hit in the early sixties which
allowed him to become involved within the inner circle of the music
industry. Doors opened for him to be a writer for a Nashville based
publisher but he didn't like the pay scale and the fact that he wouldn't
receive any of the royalties from the songs he wrote so he moved on. He
went to work for Maverick Talent a booking agency in those days and began
to book big name country music acts. After doing this for a couple of
years he became bored and really wanted to pursue his own interest in
music as a writer and performer. He went to Las Vegas and formed a band
that would work the clubs, hotels and casinos. The group performed the
standard hits of contemporary music such as Sinatra, Bennett, Como and the
like. After being in Vegas for three years he ran into a Black musician
who had a blues band and was in need of a road musician and singer to play
in the southern states for the Blues clubs or juke joints of the day.
Since Jerry played a good blues bass and new a lot of those good old delta
blues tunes he joined the band and left Vegas behind. He had a great time
with this blues band all though he was the only bit of salt in a whole
barrel of pepper, so they would say! He could tell you a ton of funny
stories about working with this group and being the only white boy in the
place! He later would enter the field of country music as an opening act
for many of the great country and Grand Ole Opry stars. He is a true
entertainer and a songwriters, songwriter! Jerry is the cog behind the
wheel here at Big Sugar Music he has more songs in the BSM Catalog than
any other writer to date and continues to turn them out on a regular
basis. He is always available to help other songwriters, in fact he says
that he gets his greatest pleasure from helping other writers an artist
hone their talents. Jerry overseas the day to day operations of BSM and is
always looking for new songs to publish. As we enter this new year we hope
to build our catalog of songs to a new plateau and we hope if you are a
songwriter you will join us in this endeavor.
